The Department of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, and Natural Sciences educates engineering students, teacher students, and foundation year students.

We are now looking for a university lecturer in mathematics.

Job Responsibilities

The job responsibilities include teaching, planning, and examination in mathematics for technical foundation year, engineering, and bachelor's programs, as well as in teacher education. Teaching in mathematics didactics may also be included in the job responsibilities. Teaching takes place both on campus and remotely. The workplace is Gävle, and most of the working hours are located on campus, with close collaboration with colleagues, students, and external partners.

Qualifications

For employment as a university lecturer in mathematics, you must have:

• completed a university degree in mathematics, for example, a subject teacher degree, or otherwise acquired competence that the employer finds equivalent,
• demonstrated pedagogical skill,
• completed university pedagogical education equivalent to at least 10 weeks of full-time studies or otherwise acquired equivalent knowledge,
• good ability to express yourself in spoken and written Swedish and English, considering the content and job responsibilities,
• good ability to collaborate and create good relationships internally and externally through communication skills, and
• good initiative and independence.

It is particularly meritorious if you have good grades from teaching in mathematics and mathematics didactics.

It is also meritorious if you have:

• broad and deep knowledge in mathematics and mathematics didactics, for example through a master's or doctoral degree, and
• experience of collaboration between university and school or activities aimed at school youth, such as mathematics competitions.

The assessment will primarily be based on pedagogical skill and breadth and depth in mathematics and mathematics didactics. Good grades from teaching in mathematics and mathematics didactics are particularly meritorious. Great emphasis will be placed on personal suitability.

University pedagogical education is a requirement for employment as a university lecturer. If the university pedagogical education has not been completed at the start of employment, you are expected to complete the education (equivalent to at least 10 weeks of full-time studies or otherwise acquire equivalent knowledge) within two years from the start of employment.
